8th August 2018, Aberdeen, Scotland: the NGL project team from Petrofac and Ithaca Energy were the latest recipients of Falcon Group’s intensive 3-day training course in Commissioning & Start-Up with API RP 1FSC. The class was lead by Falcon Group CEO, Alan Mills who said afterwards, “Mixed project teams always get a lot from the course because they can talk about real project issues in a safe environment while they learn the essential skills and techniques they can put into immediate use. This was a great team, they bonded really well and performed at a very high level in their competency assessment tests. One of the genuine success stories we took an active and central role in was Chevron’s Jack & St Malo offshore project in the Gulf of Mexico, which came on-stream in 2016. Zenator was the control tool in place from Design until Final Handover to Operations. It is one of only a handful of projects where Zenator was used (by Chevron-trained specialists, not FGL Power Users or Super Users) in text book fashion to exercise full control over all Systems Completions activities, through Mechanical Completions, Pre-Commissioning, Dynamic Commissioning and Start-Up. With so many moving parts and major risks to be mitigated at every turn, not least executing in a water-depth of nearly 1.5 miles to the seabed, JSM is rightly being hailed by Chevron as one of their great successes.…
Alan Mills, President of Falcon Global commented on the milestone achieved in the Wheatstone project It took all of 5 years, which is not unusual for such large mega projects, but Wheatstone eventually got there, producing its first shipment of LNG. Falcon's involvement on the project was with the upstream offshore production facilities, not the downstream LNG plant. TECHNOLOGY provider Falcon Global, which has a hub in Belfast, has been awarded a five-year contract to supply Zenator Systems software to a national oil and gas producer in the Gulf of Oman. The Norwich-based company, which operates a technology base in Belfast, was awarded the contract for an undisclosed sum by Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) in Muscat. It will involve the supply, training and implementation of Zenator Systems software which will help PDO control, track and manage 'systems completion' activities before the final handover of all projects across the company's business units. On completion of a concentrated programme of configuration, customization and acceptance testing in Belfast, PDO will then commence Zenator deployment in Oman. Alan Mills (BSc Civil Engineering 1983) graduated from NTU 30 years ago but returned Friday 14 November 2014 during a business trip to the UK, to give a talk to Civil Engineering students about his experience in the construction industry in which they all benefitted from his interesting perspectives and career advice.
